Friday Factoid

                      FRIDAY FACTOID

This is a meme that I started.  Every Friday I’ll put a factoid based on a book I’m reading. The book can be fiction or non-fiction If you want to participate, just leave a comment and your website to share.
I’m reading a YA novel called Ripper by Stefan Petrucha.  It takes place In NYC and involves the Pinkerton Agency.

According to Allan Pinkerton: The Original Private Eye by Judith Pinkerton Josephson

Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency-a private police force- became known as “America’s Scotland Yard.” Allan Pinkerton, called “The Eye” because of the agency’s symbol of a wide-open eye, became one of the most famous detectives who ever lived.

Happy Reading!

  1. Pinkerton's National Detective Agency is such great fodder for any Steampunk, Weird Wild West or pre Great War/Pulp era adventure story that I'm surprised they're not used more often in fiction (and role-playing games!). I'm looking forward to your review of Ripper to see how well it works in Petrucha's book.
